Katie King was born and raised in Acme, Washington, a tiny (population 263) town named for an Acme hymn book used by a local church. Her dad owned the local shake mill.

At Arlington High School Katie excelled in History, Science and especially Math, playing tennis for the Eagles and the flute in the concert band. Katie double majored in Accounting and Finance while working her way through Edmonds Community College and Central Washington University. She also married her high-school sweetheart at age 19!

Immediately after graduation, Katie joined a small CPA firm in Lynnwood and the Washington Society of CPAs. She earned her CPA certification and joined Bauer Evans in 1999.
